Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
Due to the recommendations from government and the ongoing social distancing guidelines, Huntingdonshire District Council have made the decision to close their Countryside Service Centres to the public.
Therefore, until further notice, the Visitor Centre, including the toilets at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve are now closed. All Work Parties, Events and Wildlife Surveys will cease until further notice.
The paths will remain open but please keep a 2m distance from other people who may be out for a walk.
Ordinarily, The Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve organises a wide range of activities and events to help raise funds for the Reserve. These range from talks and demonstrations to celebrations and tick ‘n’ twitch days. Events are open to all unless otherwise stated.
Please phone if you have any special needs, in particular, regarding the use of wheelchairs and pushchairs. (Visitors’ Centre: 01480 406795)
Visitors are advised to wear suitable clothing for outdoor events with strong boots or shoes, and hats in the summer sun.
Cancelled: Third Thursday Guided Walks
15 October, 2020 –
CANCELLED: The walk on 19th March 2020 has been cancelled. Please keep an eye on the website for further updates about events.
Explore Paxton Pits Nature Reserve with experienced local experts.
The route taken will depend on the time of year and conditions underfoot, but will be designed to show you the best of what the Reserve has to offer.
Walks start at the Visitors’ Centre at 10:30am and will last approximately two hours. £2.50 per person per walk. No need to book, just pay on the day. Don’t forget your binoculars!
Note: These walks are gentle ambles and not route marches; they are designed for people with little or no experience of wildlife. They should also benefit those who are getting past that stage and wish to go a little further.
